How your information is handled
Privacy
Policy.
This policy explains what personal data The Accord Method uses, why it is needed and the choices available to you.
Last updated 24 August 2026
1. Who controls your data
The Accord Method is the data controller for the website, course platform and customer support service. It is operated from Ireland. Privacy questions and rights requests can be sent to oisin@accord-method.com or submitted through the Contact page.
2. Information collected
- Name, email address and secure account identifiers.
- Purchase, payment status, promotion and entitlement records. Full card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by The Accord Method.
- Course activity such as lesson completion, quiz results and progress.
- Messages you send by email for customer support.
- Marketing preferences and mailing-list details when you choose to subscribe.
- Limited technical and security information processed by hosting and authentication providers.
For existing Podia customers, relevant name, email, purchase/access and available progress records were migrated to preserve purchased course access.
3. Why it is used
- Contract: to take payment, create and secure your account, provide course access, save progress and deliver support.
- Legal obligation: to retain appropriate transaction, tax and accounting records and respond to lawful requests.
- Legitimate interests: to protect the service, prevent fraud, understand course completion and improve the learning experience.
- Consent: to send optional marketing messages. You can withdraw this at any time.
4. Service providers
Personal data is shared only where needed with providers that help operate the service, including Stripe for payments, Supabase for authentication and course records, Cloudflare for hosting and protected media delivery, and MailerLite where you choose to join the mailing list.
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers rely on recognised adequacy decisions or contractual safeguards.
5. Retention
Account, entitlement and progress information is kept while needed to provide your ongoing course access. Transaction records are retained for the period required by accounting, tax and legal obligations. Support emails are normally kept for up to 24 months after the enquiry is resolved. Marketing details are kept until you unsubscribe or the list is retired.
Data may be retained longer where reasonably required for a dispute, fraud prevention or legal claim.
6. Cookies and local storage
The member area uses essential browser storage to keep you securely signed in. Cloudflare and Stripe may use necessary security, fraud-prevention and checkout technologies. The Accord Method does not currently use advertising cookies or behavioural advertising on the course platform.
Optional third-party mailing-list features may apply their own necessary or consent-based technologies when you interact with them.
7. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability of your personal data. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.
You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.
8. Security and updates
Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used, including restricted database access, signed media links and secure third-party payment processing. No online service can promise absolute security.
This policy will be reviewed as the service, providers or law changes. The current version will remain available on this page.
